This week we were introduced to littleBits, a synth kit that allowed users to create mini synth machines with differing “bits”, such as speakers, oscillators and delays that create different sounds when activated. The most basic form of synth needs these components:
Power (DC) ->Trigger -> Oscillator -> Effects -> Speaker

Playing around with creating different synth sounds and figuring out what worked and what didn’t was quite fun, here’s a bit of what we did:
This project is particularly great for cross-curricular content, as well as gaining funding from STEM/Tech classes since those are typically much more heavily funded than music/CAPA. Being across technology like this is quite helpful in the classroom environment, and I hope to be able to incorporate something like this into my own teaching in the future.
